The Local Police intensifies surveillance on urban roads, coinciding with the DGT’s operation

Until Sunday, April 13, the Local Police is carrying out the ‘Calming Traffic’ operation, a campaign aimed at monitoring and controlling drivers’ excessive speed on conventional roads and urban streets.

The Local Police is joining the DGT’s campaign these days with the aim of reducing the number of traffic accidents related to speed and its consequences, as well as improving the perceived sense of security by our citizens.

The campaign focuses on three distinct actions. Firstly, reviewing the signage that informs about the speed at which one should drive throughout the municipality, conducting speed checks on vehicles, and finally, extracting data from these checks, carried out through radars at various points in the city. With this data, a study will be conducted to assess the installation of new elements to improve traffic flow and road safety in our municipality.

The campaign has a special focus on urban areas, where the police have intensified surveillance to detect violations of driving at speeds above the established limit.

In urban areas, in the event of a pedestrian accident, speed is crucial for the survival of the injured person.

Desde una velocidad de 80 km/h, las posibilidades de que un peatón fallezca son casi del 100%, mientras que si la velocidad es de 30 km/h, este porcentaje se reduce al 10%. On the one hand, it is important to review the signage that informs drivers of the speed limit throughout the municipality, conduct speed checks on vehicles, and extract data from these checks using radars placed at various points in the city. With this data, a study will be conducted to assess the installation of new elements that can enhance traffic flow and road safety in our municipality.

The campaign places particular emphasis on urban areas, where the police have increased surveillance to identify violations related to exceeding the speed limit.

In urban zones, the speed at which a vehicle is traveling is crucial in cases of pedestrian accidents. When a vehicle is traveling at speeds over 80 km/h, the likelihood of a pedestrian fatality is almost one hundred percent. However, if the speed is reduced to 30 km/h, this percentage drops to just 10%.

It is essential to prioritize road safety measures in urban environments to reduce the risk of accidents and protect vulnerable road users. By implementing stricter speed limit enforcement and utilizing data from speed checks, we can work towards creating safer streets for everyone.

The efforts to enhance road safety not only benefit pedestrians but also contribute to overall traffic management and efficiency. By identifying areas with high incidences of speeding and taking proactive measures to address them, we can create a more secure and harmonious urban environment for all residents.

In conclusion, by focusing on speed limit enforcement, conducting regular speed checks, and analyzing the data obtained, we can make informed decisions about road safety improvements in our municipality. These initiatives are crucial for creating a safer and more sustainable urban environment for all road users. Let us continue to prioritize road safety and work together towards a future where accidents are minimized, and everyone can travel safely.
