The National Police have arrested four men who were robbing homes in the Community of Madrid using the ‘impressioning’ technique, a sophisticated method that involves inserting a thin deformable aluminum sheet that is molded with small movements to copy the notches of the cylinder, creating a copy on the spot.
According to the Madrid Police Headquarters, the agents arrested one of these four thieves at the beginning of June as the alleged perpetrator of several burglaries, with the judicial authority decreeing his imprisonment.
Days later, the police arrested three other men suspected of working together in the same way. In this case, to move around and try to go unnoticed, they used a vehicle that they rented in areas near the places where they committed the robberies.

They were arrested in a residential area of the Madrid town of Fuenlabrada. At the time of the arrest, the three men were dressed in vests to simulate being deliverymen and carried a cardboard box to pretend they were going to deliver a package.
To avoid falling victim to this or another form of robbery in our home, the National Police advise giving the appearance that the house is inhabited and not leaving signs of our absence such as a mailbox full of mail or completely lowered blinds. Avoid making our plans public if it is not strictly necessary and refrain from communicating or sharing any details of the trip we are going to make is also advisable.
The Police also warns that these types of thieves mark their targets by placing small plastic sheets on the door frames, thus knowing that the occupants are absent from the house. If plastic markers or other signs are detected, alert the National Police without touching them.
