The Community of Madrid has just approved a budget of 2.7 million euros to assist 182 unaccompanied minors in the Wednesday’s Government Council.
Ayuso’s government decision comes on the same day that the court has supported the regional government in its actions at the La Cantueña minors center.

The measure will allow managing 112 spots in publicly owned facilities and 70 in private centers.
This was announced in a press conference by the regional government spokesperson, Miguel Ángel García Martín, who highlighted that the Community of Madrid has assisted over 10,600 minors since 2019, including 2,442 in 2024 and 1,028 in the first quarter of this year. «This situation has led to the resources being overloaded with a current overcapacity of 132%,» he stated.
Expansion of La Cantueña
García Martín emphasized that if mandatory distribution is imposed, the Madrid government will expand the La Cantueña Center in Fuenlabrada and is already exploring the opening of new facilities in other locations.
At the same time, and in accordance with Immigration legislation, the Community of Madrid requested last week from the Government Delegation the family reunification of four minors «facing serious adaptation difficulties to safeguard their protection.»
«The Commission for the Protection of Children and Adolescents will continue to assess all cases with a real impossibility of integration. This measure is taken to prevent them from being an easy target for human trafficking mafias and drug consumption,» García Martín concluded.
